Overview

Tanzania’s northern circuit is the other half of the migration story. From January to March the wildebeest calve on the southern Serengeti plains; by June they are heading north towards Kenya. The Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano with 25,000 animals on its floor, is spectacular at any time of year.

We can start this safari with a shuttle from Nairobi to Arusha or with a flight to Kilimanjaro Airport.

Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi to Arusha

Shuttle to Arusha via the Namanga border, overnight in Arusha.

Day 2Arusha to Lake Manyara

Game drive in Lake Manyara, overnight in Karatu.

Day 3Manyara to Serengeti

Drive through the Ngorongoro highlands into the Serengeti, afternoon game drive.

Day 4Serengeti

Full day of game drives.

Day 5Serengeti to Ngorongoro

Morning game drive, drive to the crater rim.

Day 6Ngorongoro Crater

Crater floor game drive, then return to Arusha for the shuttle or flight home.
